We generate real-world evidence on the safety, effectiveness, and use of medications across the life course, with a focus on pregnancy, maternal and child health, and populations historically underrepresented in research. Using population-based health data from Canada and other countries, we produce evidence that informs safer prescribing, more equitable care, and stronger health policy.
Our mission is to generate rigorous real-world evidence on the safety, effectiveness, and use of medications in pregnancy, childhood, and other vulnerable populations. Through this work, we aim to support safer prescribing, improve clinical care, and strengthen health policy in Manitoba, across Canada, and beyond.
Our vision is a health system in which medication decisions are guided by high-quality evidence for all populations, including those historically excluded from drug safety research. We strive to advance more equitable, evidence-informed care for mothers, children, families, and people living with chronic conditions across the life course.
We use large administrative and electronic health databases from Canada and other countries to study medication use and health outcomes in real-world settings. Our research integrates population-based cohort studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and quasi-experimental methods. We work closely with clinicians, patients, and research partners to ensure our findings are methodologically rigorous, clinically relevant, and policy informed.
